Estimation of Remaining Life of Power Transformers Based on Monitoring Data
Baschelor's Thesis | Tallinn University of Applied Sciences
This thesis addressed the problem of aging power transformers in the Elektrilevi OÜ network, which are, on average, operating past their 21-year estimated lifespan. I used a Health Index (HI) methodology that combines five different dissolved gas analysis (DGA) methods—including key gas analysis, gas increase rates, and the Duval Triangle—to assess transformer condition. The results validated this approach, revealing that the 30-50 year age range is the most critical and identifying 14 specific transformers in the network that require immediate attention.
